Join the Carolina Hurricanes as we kick off the start of a new season with the 14th annual Caniac Carnival presented by Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina at Lenovo Center on Sept. 15, 2013.
The Caniac Carnival, which will take over the outside and inside of Lenovo Center, will feature activities for fans of all ages, including the general public's first chance to purchase a new jersey, a free Carolina Hurricanes Red-White game, an autograph session, inflatable rides, interactive games and booths, a kid’s zone, sports area, live band, appearances by Stormy and the Eye Care Associates Storm Squad and more! Admission and parking are free, and the event is open to the public. See below for a detailed activity schedule.
The Hurricanes Red-White game is general admission; all seats are open to the public, and a ticket is not required. The game will be run just like an NHL contest with three 20-minute periods and intermission activities and contests. In addition, the teams will be wearing the new red and white uniforms. Team rosters will be available as the event nears. The Red-White game is a great opportunity for long-time and first-time fans alike: NHL action is back, and it's free! See below in the FAQ section for more details.
Following the game, 20 lucky fans will be selected to take their picture on the ice with the team. Those looking to enter to win this contest should visit the East Priority Lounge during the Red-White game, and winners will be announced during the second intermission.
Outside of the arena, the Caniac Carnival will take over multiple parking lots. There will be over 50 inflatables, interactive displays, corporate partner booths and food trucks, new to the event this year. A live band and DJ will perform throughout the day.
The Caniac Carnival will serve as the first chance for the general public to purchase the team's new home and away jerseys. The Eye team store will open at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday.
An autograph session will be held leading up to the game, with all members of the Hurricanes scheduled to appear. This will be limited to the first 600 fans and is free to the public.
Before the team takes the ice at 1:00 p.m., John Forslund, the Canes TV play-by-play analyst, will host a State of the Hurricanes discussion at 12:15 p.m., featuring special guest Jim Rutherford, the team's president and general manager.
